RETURN THE WARMTH

Part of the Great American Cleanup
March 1st  -  May 31st

What is "RETURN THE WARMTH"?    It's a national school-based plastic bottle (PET) recycling contest that turns plastic bottles into backpacks for children in SAM's CLUB communities across the country.  The goal of the program is to remove 45 million plastic bottles (PET) from the environment.

What's in it for the Schools?   The top 50 collecting schools will be awarded a $1,000 Sam's Club gift card and the top 100 schools will be awarded a minimum of 250 fleece jackets made from recycled PET plastic.

How Can I Help the Schools?   Eleven schools in Athens and Limestone County are participating.  Choose one or more schools to support them by saving your #1 plastic at home, at work, and at play.  They need your help!!!  Send the plastic in with a student, or drop the plastic off in the collection cage located at each participating school.

How Can I Tell if it's #1 Plastic?   If you look on the bottom of the plastic bottle, there will be a #1 inside a recycling triangle.  All drink bottle are made from #1 plastic, such as soda, water, and juice bottles.  Other clear plastic bottles and jars could be #1.  Place your finger in the center of the bottom of the bottle/jar.  If there is a nub of plastic where the bottle was removed from the injection mold, that is #1.  It it has a seam across the bottom, it is NOT #1.
